UPDATED – 12.30pm: Four people have suffered injuries following a two vehicle crash on the Paeroa-Kopu Rd/State Highway 26 south of Thames this morning.

Police, ambulance and fire crews from Thames and Puriri attended this morning’s crash which occurred just north of the intersection at Paeroa-Kopu and Omahu Valley roads.

Steve says two of the people involved in the crash suffered serious injuries and were airlifted to Waikato Hospital, while the other two suffered moderate injuries and were transported to Thames Hospital.

Waikato District Command Centre senior sergeant Damion Rangitutia says a road closure is currently in place blocking north and south bound lanes just north of Omahu Valley Road.

He is unable to confirm how long the road closure will be and is thanking motorists for their patience whilst the scene is processed and cleared.
