A Christopher Road resident will have to rebuild his fence after a car crashed through his front yard late yesterday afternoon, narrowly missing his house.
Fire officers say the driver was an elderly woman and had crashed into the property after initially colliding with another vehicle at the Thirteenth Avenue and Christopher Road intersection.
A Christopher Road resident surveys the damage to his property after a car crashed through it late yesterday afternoon.
Greerton Fire Station officer Mike Swanson was at the scene and says it appears the elderly woman reversed in panic after the collision, smashing through the front fence of the property.
“She was still in the car when we arrived and was a little shaken up when we got her out. She had no injuries,” says Mike.
He suspects sun-strike may have been a contributing factor to the crash.
When SunLive arrived at the scene shortly after the crash, the woman had been taken out of the car and moved into the house.
The car destroyed about eight metres of fence on the property and damaged parts of the front lawn and garden.
