February 24-25, 2017: The 2016-2017 Demon Energy D1NZ National Drifting Championship

Round three of the championship will see Tauranga’s ASB Baypark Stadium transformed into a drift circuit, giving fans the closest possible drifting experience. The 17,000-plus capacity multi-purpose facility will have 5000m2 of concrete laid atop the grass infield to form a drift circuit. Details: www.d1nz.com

February 25-26, 2017: New Zealand Superbike Championships – Taupo

The New Zealand Superbike Championships riders are now in the second half of the four-round series with round three set for the Bruce McLaren Motorsport Park circuit. Taupo has the biggest number of entries for the series so far – 155 – so expect plenty of action. Details: www.nzsuperbikes.nz

March 4, 2017: Street Invasion – Baypark family Speedway

The street stocks return to Baypark as only they can. Also racing are super saloons, saloons, stock cars, six-shooter V6 wingless sprint cars and mini stocks. The night of fuel-filled entertainment start 6.30pm with children’s entertainment through the night thanks to bouncy castles, face painting, trampolines and more on-site.

March 5: Bike and Hotrod Show – Mount Maunganui

Held on the council reserve at Cherokee Place, off Aerodrome Rd, the biennial show offers a great collection of bikes and hotrods on display courtesy of a local social motorcycle club Coastal Cruisers. March 5: All Ford Day - Mount Maunganui

Come and see some of the biggest single brand car shows in the Bay – every Ford which way will most likely be on display. Hosted by the Ford Muscle Car Club, the event supports the Child Cancer Foundation Tauranga. The show at Blake Park opens gate for show cars at 8am. Entry is $ per car. All vehicles entered eligible for spot prizes. The show is from 10am-3pm. Prizegiving is 2.30pm. Public entry is adults $5 and Under-14s free.

March 11: Champion of Champion Sprint Car Series – Baypark

Baypark Speedway offers the final Round of the Champion of Champion Sprint Car Series with the best drivers from throughout the North Island racing for the overall series title.Also racing are super saloons, saloons, stock cars, six-shooter wingless sprint cars and mini stocks.
