State Highway 2 near Judea will be closed overnight on Sunday and Monday, May 16-17.
The closure, which will take place 7pm-6am, is to allow a new overhead gantry sign to be installed at the Takitimu Drive off-ramp.
New Zealand Transport Agency's state highway manager for Bay of Plenty, Rod James, says motorists will be diverted along Waihi Road during the road closure of Tamatea Arikinui Drive, formerly Route J.
The tolled section of Takitimu Drive, Route K, is not affected by this closure.
"The gantry goes across five lanes of traffic so the quickest and safest way to get it installed is to completely close the highway for a short period."
"NZTA apologises to motorists for any inconvenience and to local residents who might notice higher than usual traffic volumes," says Rod.
