Road works on State Highway 36, near Oropi Road, are expected to cause minor delays to motorists travelling from Tauranga to Rotorua this week.
Resurfacing works will begin on the state highway, at its intersection with Oropi Road today.
NZ Transport Agency highways manager Brett Gliddon says the work is to improve safety at the intersection by providing a right turn bay for traffic turning into Oropi Road.
Brett says 1.3km length of road will be improved as part of this work which includes road resurfacing and shoulder widening to improve visibility at this intersection for drivers.
The works are expected to be completed by late October.
“A manual stop/go operation will be in place, drivers are advised to allow additional time in their journey due to the minor delays.
“We thank drivers for their assistance and we will continue to monitor conditions of this road before removing the temporary speed restriction.”
