A Tauranga woman is lucky not to be facing serious charges after she ran a red light almost hitting a pedestrian in Bethlehem.
Members of the public called police about midday today after a motorist ran a red light at the pedestrian crossing on State Highway 2 near Moffat Road.
A pedestrian was nearly hit by a car in Bethlehem this afternoon.
Western Bay of Plenty road policing manager Senior Sergeant Ian Campion says a pedestrian was crossing legally when a female driver failed to give way.
“The driver has been dealt with by way of a fine.” Ian says the pedestrian was lucky not to have been hit by the driver.
“People need to make sure they comply with the traffic signals and be particularly aware at intersections and pedestrian crossings.
“This was an incident that could have well of had a bad ending.”
