Airshow: How to beat the rush

Tauranga City Airshow organisers are anticipating crowds of about 25,000 people, which is likely to mean heavy traffic on roads near the airport.
To cope with this traffic pressure, Environment Bay of Plenty is encouraging people to use the Bay Hopper Bus Service to get to the airshow. There are three special bus services scheduled to run direct to the airshow.

See video below of interview with Tauranga City Airshow CEO Andrew Gormlie as he explains how to get the most out of the event.

Route 1: Pyes Pa - Greerton - City - Airshow - Mount
Every 60 minutes

Route 2: The Lakes - Greerton - City - Airshow - Bayfair - Mount
Every 60 minutes
Buses serving Hewletts Road (short walk to Tauranga Airshow)

Route 33: Papamoa - Bayfair - City
Every 60 minutes

For people who drive to the airshow, there are three car parks available:
1. A free park ‘n ride service is available, with the car park located at the intersection of Totara Street and Waimarie Street.

2. An airfield car park can be accessed from Totara Street south.

3. An airfield car park can be accessed from Aerodrome Road.

Airshow organisers are encouraging people to get to the event early with gates opening from 7.30am to avoid any hassles.
