What's On Today? Start your engines

Good morning Sunners,

Check your blind spots and buckle up for a Sunday full of thrills and spills, with Omokoroa No.1 School’s Gala and Original Ride-On Mower Race Day and the Extreme Automotive All USA Day today.

Open to the public from 10am, Bay of Plenty Mustang Club’s annual event at Wharepai Domain is sure to turn heads with up to 300 vehicles on show.

There’ll be everything from vintage models to pickups, customised cars and hot roads, as well as a large contingent of Mustangs from across the North Island.

The event will be held in Spring St car park if it rains. Money raised from each entry will be donated to Waipuna Hospice.

Keeping the engines running, the action continues at Plummers Point Rd for Omokoroa No.1 School’s 11th annual ride-on mower race day.

Although the event sounds like it might be just for the blokes – the gala day activities offer plenty for all.

Race day coordinator Bronwyn Carter says it promises to be bigger and better than before, with a few new attractions including a mechanical bull and brick-a-brac or white elephant stalls.

The event, from 10am to 3pm, is the school’s major annual fundraising event. This year’s funds will go towards the Information Technology department.
