The NZ Transport Agency is advising locals that work on the Pekatahi Bridge will take place tomorrow night, not tonight.
A stretch of State Highway 2 between Awakeri and Taneatua will be closed to allow contractors to work on the bridge.

Detours will be in place during the maintenance works, which will now begin at 7pm tomorrow and last until 6am on Wednesday morning.
This detour will add about 10 minutes to normal travel times and runs through Whakatane via SH30, Hinemoa Street, Arawa Road and Taneatua Rd.
Tomorrow night’s work are weather dependent and may need to continue for a second night should the weather turn ugly.
The NZTA says these repair works are to replace part of the timber deck on Pekatahi Bridge.
