Final touches for four laning

Final surfacing is due to take place on State Highway 2, between Domain Road and Mangatawa, this week with lane closures and speed restrictions in place.

Depending on weather the work is expected to take place between 9am and 4pm Monday till Thursday, the New Zealand Transport Agency reports on behalf of the Fulton Hogan HEB Construction Alliance.

Surfacing works on State Highway 2, near Papamoa, will take place this week.  

Traffic will be restricted to one lane on the westbound lanes heading to Tauranga, with a 50km/h temporary speed limit restriction. The eastbound lanes heading to Te Puke, will have a series of lane closures in place, with traffic diverted into the adjacent lane along with a 50km/h temporary speed restriction.

The Kairua Road off ramp will also be closed to traffic to allow the final road surface to be placed across the exit ramp. Motorists are advised to use the alternative route via Welcome Bay Road.

Work is scheduled on the Kairua road off ramp on Tuesday, between 9am and 4pm, and the on-ramp on Thursday between 9am and 4pm.
