Rain delays Chapel St work

Road works planned for the Chapel Street and Marsh Street intersection through to the service station are delayed by wet weather.

The road works connected with the harbour link project were to start on Tuesday but will now start later this week.
Four days of fine weather are required to complete the first section of the works, says Kaye Clark, acting regional director for the New Zealand Transport Agency.
It will take about 10 days to complete the work, most of which will take place at night, with traffic reduced to one lane in both directions.
Only six of nine remaining beams for the Chapel Street viaduct were able to be installed on Sunday evening due to bad weather. The three remaining beams were expected to be placed on Tuesday night.
