Completion of the Takitimu Drive on-ramp and reconstruction of the Chapel Street and Marsh Street intersection is scheduled to commence today as part of the NZ Transport Agency’s Harbour Link project.
NZTA Project Manager Kevin Reid says most of this work, including road closures on Marsh Street and the Chapel Street westbound on-ramp to Takitimu Drive, will be carried out at night. Motorists should follow the signposted detours during these closures.
“For a few days motorists will be travelling on compacted metal or new chip seals and speed restrictions will be in place. Where possible, take an alternative route or allow more travel time as delays are expected,” says Kevin.
These works will take about a week to complete. Once completed, the final lane layout will be in place for Chapel Street, including cycle lanes and footpaths.
