Downtown truck parade

Some congestion is expected in downtown Tauranga Saturday afternoon when a convoy of trucks is scheduled to parade there.
The parade is planned to head along Cameron Road, Chadwick Street, Fraser Street and Devonport Road.
NZL Group truck driver Brett Skevington says the event is a celebration of the huge role the transport industry has to play in the Bay of Plenty region.

From playing with them to riding in them: Kaylea Griffits is just one of the hundreds of children (and parents too) looking forward to a truck ride this weekend with drivers like Warren Cooper.

“You’ll hear us coming, so make sure you are there to wave us on.”
This parade is followed up on Sunday with Give a Kid a Ride Day. For a gold coin donation, children are able to ride in the cab of a truck from Baypark Stadium to Hairini Roundabout and back.
Funds raised go to Child Cancer Tauranga.
