British car buffs motor in

Hundreds of vintage car enthusiasts turned out to the British Car Club Annual Picnic over the weekend.
The picnic is held annually on the first Sunday of December and this year it was at Tye Park in Welcome Bay.
Sheryl Murray, club captain at Tauranga’s Jaguar Enthusiasts Club, says everyone who attended the event thoroughly enjoyed it.

“They are all car enthusiasts and it’s a really social day and an opportunity to show off their beautiful cars,” says Sheryl.
There were two prizes given out at the picnic – best presented car club and best presented car.

The Jaguar Enthusiasts Club won the best presented prize and Ron Elton, president of the Bay of Plenty Vintage Car Club, won the best presented car prize for his 1931 Rover Ten.
“They are just so stylish. They have so much character and have such good motors. It’s amazing because some of these cars are pretty old,” says Sheryl.
